We are beekeepers living in Arthog, near Dolgellau, in a lovely part of Southern Snowdonia where Cadair Idris sweeps down to the Mawddach Estuary. Our bees make honey from nectar collected from the many trees and wildflowers in the area. Every batch is different in colour and flavour. We use the beeswax to make candles, polish, skin creams and soaps to age-old, uncomplicated recipes. All our products are hand-made in small batches in our home.
We sell our honey and beeswax products locally under the branding Trees and Bees. Visit our sister website: www.treesandbees.co.uk to find out more.
We also keep chickens, Muscovy ducks, turkeys and occasionally pigs on our 12 acre smallholding and sometimes have eggs and/or birds to sell.
We have a young orchard and a walled soft fruit garden as well as our veg patch and polytunnel. These are not the tidiest in the world, bees and other livestock takes priority, but we usually manage to grow a fair bit of our food, and enjoy making jams, chutneys and wines with the seasonal surpluses.
We have 2 cottages on our smallholding available for holiday lets. Hen Stabl was converted from the stable/animal barn attached to the end of the main farmhouse. Hen Feudy (old cowshed) is situated about 200m down the hill from the house. Guests in both cottages are welcome to explore our smallholding and beyond. We will be very happy to give you some ideas of good walks in the area.
