We are easy to find by road, being situated on the A493 just outside Arthog, about 5 miles from Dolgellau. From Dolgellau follow the signs to Tywyn and drive through Penmaenpool and Abergwynant. The road rises at Arthog hill and you’ll see Graig Wen (camp site and B&B) on the right at the top of the hill. As you come down the hill there is a quarry on the left. The gate to Erw Goed is on the right hand side, opposite the quarry and just before you reach the Arthog 30mph signs.
We live in Erw Goed farmhouse which is attached to Hen Stabl. It is a short walk down the hill over one of our fields to Hen Feudy, but vehicular access is via a separate track. See the directions below.
It would be helpful if you can phone us as you pass Dolgellau (10 minutes away) so that we can meet you on arrival.
For Hen Stabl
Come through the gate marked Erw Goed. Please close the gate behind you as sheep roam freely in the land around Erw Goed. At the fork in the track, take the left hand track down the hill, over the cattle grid and you will come to the house. Yr Hen Stabl is at the far end of the house.
For Hen Feudy
Carry on past the Arthog signs, pass a small road to your left marked to Cregennan Lakes, continue a further 100 metres to find a small track on the right, opposite a terrace of cottages and signed to the cemetery (mynwent in Welsh). Hen Feudy is down this track but it is a difficult, switchback turn from this direction. It is possible to do a three-point turn but if there is traffic or you are in a larger vehicle it is better to continue on the main road, turn around and approach this track from the other direction. You can turn either after 400m in the entrance to Arthog Hall, opposite the little church, or more easily after 3/4 mile in a large layby and turning area below the village Hall. Come down the track, past the cemetery, around a corner and then just before Ynysfechan House, take the track into the woods to the right to find Hen Feudy.
